Four poses every bride should do on her wedding day

in this guide, I’m going to show you the FOUR most important poses for brides to keep in mind when taking wedding portraits. These are easy to perform, even if it’s your first time being in front of a professional camera.

UNDER THE VAIL

If you are wearing a veil on your wedding day, make sure you add this to your shot list to give to your photographer. When you’re taking this one, make sure to do a couple of variations. Look up slightly so we can see that defined jawline and avoid any double chin action with smiling. Try looking at your husband for an authentic smile, or just point your head straight with your eyes closed and a slight tilt for a dreamy look.

THE VENUE SHOT

I like to take this shot, especially with a big venue or building in the background (nice church, Disney, hotel). I sit the bride down on a chair, fence, or staircase, holding her bouquet with both hands. I use a very wide-angle lens to emphasize the contrast in size between a small human being and a huge place. I get low to the ground for a better shot. brides usually love this pose because it shows the beautiful venue they paid so much money for.

THE HERO SHOT

It’s classic and a must-have. This pose highlights the bride’s confidence and excitement on her big day. This shot could show the bride outside in the sun, looking to the side while holding her bouquet with elegance. The contrast shows off her beautiful dress and jewelry and really emphasizes her emotions. This pose truly makes you feel like a queen. I always like to take this picture at the beginning of the day to show it to the bride. Usually, after seeing how beautiful she looks, they trust me more and start listening to my instructions more and more.

Let's get closer

I love detailed shots, and they are crucial on a wedding day. You will thank me when you see them in your wedding album later on. This is when you take an up-close shot to show the details. Show the bride’s hands holding the ring softly. Or a close-up to capture the details of the dress and the bride’s hair. See her lips smiling without the rest of her face where her jawline and collar bones are shown in beautiful light. These pictures help tell a story on your wedding album. I always make sure to take many detailed pictures of the bride. so make sure you tell your photographer that you want some of those.
